Getting ready

I've been packing all day.. and I think I've got everything. I hope! I'm leaving in a couple of hours. Flying with Iceland Express and have one stop on Iceland. When I get to Newark airport I have to get through security and then catch a train to Wilmington. I don't get to Wilmington till 1030 pm or so. Long day!

Its just 4 days till I leave for the US! Isn't that insane? I can't wait. It's going to be so much fun to get back and see everyone again.. and just to be there too. Then we got Starbucks, BWW, Outback, Coldstone, Taco Bell... yum =) haha

It's a hot one

This summer is the hottest one since 1994. We have temperatures between 85 and 95. I like it a lot, but I'm one of few that do. Mike and I decided to go swimming after a hot day shopping in Lund. The water felt real good, it was warm enough to not be cold when u get in but cold enough to cool you down getting in. Mike is still surprised with all the kids running around naked on the beach.

Keep on digging

For the last couple of days I've been digging in the backyard. My mom and dad wants to build a deck, so my brother is going to build one... but he doesn't want to dig. I'm digging and getting a nice tan at the same time =)

We went down to the beach last night to see fireworks. The bridge between Malmö and Copenhagen is now 10 years old. That was celebrated with fireworks and a laser show. It was really pretty. We saw both the fireworks in Malmö and the ones in Copenhagen.

Midsummer

We celebrated midsummer Friday. The day started out with my dad, Mike and Michael went out to pick flowers for the midsummer pole and mom and I made the strawberry cake. We all met up at Berglunds where the guys made and decorated the midsummer pole and drank beer. Back home to get dressed for success and then back to Berglunds again for the party. Cake, kubb, beer and drinks in the sun.
Dinner was as always awesome; like 5 different kinds of herring, baby hot dogs, meatballs, sour cream, chive, vegetables, salmon, eggs, bread, cheese, crackers, melon and grapes.. and I probably forgot something. Man it's good stuff! We did some singing and drank some schnapps.

The royal wedding

The Crown princess of Sweden got married yesterday. It was a really nice wedding. The whole thing was sent on TV =)

It's the first time in history that a crown princess in Sweden is getting married. When our princess was born they changed the law from the first born boy to the first born child is going to be the heir to the throne.


This is after they got out from the church and were riding around Stockholm!

Ven

Ven is an island between Sweden and Denmark. It have existed since 4500 BC and there have been different kind of buildings since the stone age. The island belonged to Denmark a long time and it was during that period that Tycho Brahe had built his castle and research Uraniborg. He built the first observatory in Europe. The island became Swedish in the 1600s.

Mike, Rich and I went to Ven yesterday (Saturday) to bike around. We took the boat from Landskrona over to the island and rented bikes there. We biked around the whole island and just had fun. We brought our own lunch and stopped to eat it in one of the small harbors. We were lucky with the weather. Sunny and 20C. Only bad thing is that it was very windy on one side of the island. It was a very fun day =)

BBQ on the beach

We had a BBQ on the beach Saturday night. Me and Mike went down to the beach at 6 pm and then the rest started coming a little after 6.30 pm. Everybody brought down what they were going to eat and Mike and I made sausages, pepper and onions. Yum! Then we made smores for dessert. Josefin had her Kubb game with her so we played a round of that. We called it a night when we ran out of stuff to burn and it started to get cold a little after 11 pm.


It was Sweden's National Day Sunday. We don't celebrate it a lot. The King held a speech and people had their flags up in the back yard. We celebrated with ribs and pecan pie =)

Kubb and carnival

I'm teaching Mike how to play the game kubb. It's a game the Vikings played. You play it in two teams and then you throw "sticks" and try to knock over the other teams little blocks. So far I've won every round we've played =)

Lunda Karnevalen was this weekend. It's a carnival arranged by the students at the University of Lund. It's a very big thing and it's only happening every 4 years. Saturday and Sunday they have a parade with 16 trucks going by that is all decorated after this years theme. The theme this year was right and wrong. Then there are 30 different students for each truck that runs around acting crazy and all of them are dressed up according to their truck. There is also a big area with tents and different activities, there are also 5 or 6 different shows and a movie. I saw two of the shows this year and they were hilarious!!

Mike is coming to town

Mike is coming here on Sunday. I'm so excited!! He's staying until July 22nd. So got a little more than 2 months. He wasn't supposed to come until next Sunday but because of strikes and canceled flights did he have to rebook his flight.

And then Rich is coming on the 9th (I think it is). Another awesome summer =)

A student with no money... I've been looking for a summer job since the beginning of February. It's not an easy thing. I have been sending in my papers to every company in sight. I got a call today from one of the companies (finally!!). I'm going to deliver news papers every other weekend. My first weekend will be May 15/16. I've never been good with mornings.. so this will be interesting haha!!

Work work work

Last week, this week and next week. No school, but work. We are out working at elderly homes. It's a lot of fun and I have learned a lot of new stuff. It's fun to see everything in real life now that we have read about in class before. I'm walking around with one of the nurses. =)

(There are two kinds of nurses; first the nurse that does all the medical stuff and then there are nurses that's taking care of the patients 24/7. I'm walking around with one of the "real" nurses).

Party Saturday night

It was a "sittning" that the students from the first semester arranged for students from the second semester. Everyone was supposed to be dressed up after the theme. In Sweden we have many words that's put together by two other words and then get a different meaning. Like if you take the word chicken and alive and put them together you get chicken liver. I dressed up as what whipped cream would be if you took the word apart, in Swedish that would be whisk and cream. I hope you all understand my try to explain the whole thing.

This is me Saturday night. The white clothes for cream and then I guess you can figure out the rest =)

It was a fun night. It started out with a three-course dinner and then dance. There were also a lot of singing, like on Midsummer. The most popular song was the Lambo song.

Easter is coming up

but first exam. This exam is on pharmaceutical calculation.. hmm that word sounds weird but it's what the dictionary came up with. Been trying to study for this exam today.. think it will be alright.

Going to over to friend's house on Thursday for Easter dinner. Then heading up to my grandma's house on Friday and staying there till Monday. Looking forward to it =)

I'm making a banana cake with cream cheese frosting! Yum. It smells delicious.. can't wait to taste it =) Tried making little animals of chocolate and M&M's but the chocolate and me wanted different things.. so it looks more like chocolate piles than animals haha..

Social psychology

We had a group exam today in social psychology. I think we did a pretty good job. We got a picture to analyze based on what we have learned in class. It wasn't to easy though since we are 9 very strong minded people in the group and no one want to give in.

I hope the exam last week went okay too... but I'm more unsure about that one!

Exam time

First exam for this semester is tomorrow. If we pass or fail this class is all on if we pass the exam or not. We get another chance if we do fail.. but it's always nice to pass it right away.
It's a three in one exam, so three different parts. The biggest one is going to be biochemistry and then the two smaller ones are pharmacology and microbiology. I'm not to worried.. but this exam is known to be a hard one..

Oooooh Fudge!!

I don't know how I managed but yes I did. I broke my glasses... Kinda just by putting them away for a little. So I had to go get new glasses.. and this time I found some I like better. They are kinda the same shape as my old ones but instead of green they are black and on the "inside" pink.

Me and Sofia went to Josefin's house tonight for some girl talk and to play cards. It was fun but why do I always end up laying on the floor? It started snowing when I was walking back home. Not tiny little flakes but super big ones. It looked real pretty... even though I'm starting to get a bit tired of all the snow now....

Semmeldagen

It was semmeldagen yesterday. A semla is a sweet bun, split in half: Then you put marzipan on the bottom half and then whipped cream over that. On top of the whipped cream you put the other half of the bun and then icing sugar on top. Yum!!! But I eat my semlor without the marzipan.

Semmeldagen is the last day of lent. It's "celebrated" in many countries but there are not many who fast.. but almost everyone eat semlor. In Norway they eat the same kind of bun, but they eat it with jelly instead of the marzipan.

I saw the move edge of darkness today! It was really awesome. I'm usually not a very big fan of Mel Gibson but he is a good actor I must say after seeing this movie. The movie was a little scary every now and then, but wasn't to bad.. I was still able to sleep, haha! There were never a moment in the movie when nothing happened and you got bored. There were constantly something happening. I also like that it was "only" a two hour movie compared to all the three hours movies lately..

"Everything is illegal in the state of Massachusetts" - the most common line in the movie!!

Birthday coffee with Alex

I met up with Alex today in Malmö for a birthday coffee and cake. After some problems with our phones could we enjoy a nice afternoon together. We went to a nice little coffee place, kinda like starbucks but has more cookies and cakes and stuff. I love just sitting down like this for a couple of hours and do nothing but talk and relax. I definitely don't do it enough!

Game night and girl talk

I went over to Elisabet's house tonight for game night. We started out with an awesome dinner, meat and potatoes, salad and warm carrots. Then they served a yummy desert that I don't know the name of :P It was all real good though.

Who wants to be a millionaire and another board game came out and I didn't do good in either one.. But it was of course the good company that was important =) We then spent the rest of the night talking about totally random stuff.

A lot of laughs later I'm home in my bed getting ready to go to sleep!!

I feel old... I turn 22 today. It's really not that old, but the last couple of years have just passed so quickly so I can't really realize that I am 22.

I'm off from school today, so I'm just hanging out at home relaxing and eating cake =) Sounds like a pretty good birthday to me. I guess I should work in some studying and some time for work out in today's schedule too...

A trip to the US

My mom and I went and saw Disney on ice in Malmö tonight. It was really cool =) The people that were performing did things on the ice that I can't even dream of doing even though I'm not on the ice! The costumes were crazy good and the whole performance was amazing.

Back to school

I had my first class after "Christmas break" on the 4th and then an exam on the 8th. Only this week too and then we start a new class. We start biochemistry on Monday. I'm excited. That class looks like it's going to be a lot of fun! Busy, but fun.

Mike left Friday, and I miss him a lot. He's coming back here in the end of May and I'm already counting down the days! haha

New years and the Zoo

I celebrated New Years Eve with Mike, Alex and Scott. We all had dinner at my house, Mike made an awesome spaghetti sauce and then we had banana splits for desert. Yum! Then some of my friends came over and we played beer pong, flip cup, fuck the dealer, ride the bus and more. Got crazy but was so much fun.
We all got dressed in as much clothes as we could before we were going to go outside to watch the fireworks. It was 10F outside. It was so cold that the champagne started to freeze in the glasses. We went down to the beach (about a five minute walk from my house) and from there you could see the fireworks in my town, the ones in Malmö and the ones in Copenhagen. So it was fireworks where ever you turned your head. Was so cool.

On the second me and Mike went to Skånes djurpark. It's a zoo about 45 minutes away that has animals from the Nordic countries. We saw all the animals, but the beaver that was hiding. The wolverine was definitely the coolest one. He sat on a stone and then he did a dance for us =)
